Ninja and Pirate

You know what’s crazy about the webcomic community? You don’t even have to know a person that well and they will still come to your rescue. Judson Gruber is one such individual. He and I had talked a bit here and there on Twitter (@GUDoug), but to no real fruition, just casual polite conversation. So imagine my surprise when outta the blue he sends me a guest strip to put up for my hiatus! How cool is that? Not only that, but he was totally receptive and willing to make any changes I wanted to his art, a trait rare in many artists. Seriously, even though I still can’t say I know him super well, I can say full well that THIS Gruber won’t hold a business tower hostage on Christmas Eve. He has his own strip, Dusters, that is friggin adorable. I mean, I took the easy way out of trying to make Ninja and Pirate look adorable (round shapes, big ol’ eyes, squishy round limbs) but this guy knows how to make things look cute, but he also knows how to draw seriously too.
