Hey everybody. I’ve got good news and bad news. The bad news is yesterday was the worst days I have had in a while. My company is going through some downsizing and I got laid off. So yeah. I get to be the deadbeat jobless husband. I’m just hoping I can find something soon. If you have any art-related business opportunities or just want commissions please feel free to contact me at ninja_pirate_comic@yahoo.com. I am extremely versatile in terms of artistic style, ranging from stylized and cartoony all the way to hyper-realistic. My rates are both affordable and flexible and change depending on the size and complexity of the job. I am currently available for any and all employment opportunities. That being said, I was in a crippling depression for the majority of the day and couldn’t make a comic for you all. For that I truly apologize.
The good news is, one of my best and most talented webcomic buds, Stephen McGee of Rain Dogs, stepped in, kicked my depression in the cajones, and said “Don’t worry about it Joe. I got this!” and preceded to whip up one of the fastest and funniest guest arts I have ever seen. Stephen is a great guy and I am super lucky to have him as a friend. Plus he draws ‘freaking out’ eyes like no one else. Seriously, they are magic. I’ve tried duplicating it in N&P because it’s so darn effective. So please, check out his comic because he is super talented and one of the best guys you’ll meet. He’s saved my bacon more than once, but that’s because I like to crisco my pan before I cook bacon. It makes it very slippery. He also has filled in for me on this website before and it was great. Stephen deserves all your views and support and maybe your bacon. That’s how good he is. Thanks, buddy. I owe you one. Or twelve.
Another shout out to my wonderful amazing wife, who was just as blindsided as me by this losing my source of income thing. She took half the day off to come home and rock her pathetic hubby to sleep while cooing sweet words in his ear. Or maybe that was Bette Midler in this creepy dream I had once. Seriously though, my wife is amazing and I am so lucky to have her. Furthermore, my father in law texted me one of the coolest messages I’ve ever gotten and my mother in law went grocery shopping for us and even picked out a new video game for me because she knows how I work. You guys are the best. I don’t want to be a burden on you or anyone else, that’s why I’m only telling everybody now, but you guys just swooped right in to lift me back up after I got sucker punched by my boss, figuratively speaking. Thank you guys. So much.
And to my parents who love and support me indefinitely. I know you’re going through a tough time right now (my little sister is very very ill) so I didn’t want to bother you with this news, but I know if I did let you know you would be here for me in a heartbeat. I love you guys.
Lastly, the worst news. This is truly horrific. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie trailer is out and IT IS TERRIFYING. RIP East and Lairdman who are not dead but still I feel sorry for you.
Glad to hear your ****** day resulted in some really awesome things. Sounds like you have an amazing support group! Let me know if I can do anything art-wise for you.
Joe, my thoughts are with you, bud! Let me of anything I can do to help out.
Unemployment is a horrific thing to go through. Hopefully you will find something very soon.
I wish you and your family the best.
