There’s still a comic today. I always feel weird putting up a comic so close to tragedy. It feels like I’m trivializing it. But then I remember why I started this comic. People, we need to laugh. Humanity makes this world such an awful, dark place and if we don’t take time to put some silliness back into it then we’ll just be enveloped in total rage and depression. If you don’t get a chuckle here, please look somewhere else to be happy. Other humans do terrible acts to try to get us to see things their way, or to make themselves infamous, or to permanently ruin the lives of innocents. I fully believe laughter keeps the world from succumbing to it’s own sickness. We are a plague of destruction and woe to each other for some reason- but laughter is universal. If we can’t unite over something as trivial as ideals or religion then we will always find a link in laughter. If humanity could just stop tearing at its chest long enough to laugh at our differences instead of condemning then we might be able to make a world people would be happy to live in. Your prejudices do not matter. Your god does not matter. Your hatred, your greed, your sense of justice does not matter. You matter. He matters. She matters. We are alive. Think of how ridiculous the series of events are that led to you being able to draw breath right now. The infinitesimal odds that allowed you to open your eyes. Each one of our existences spits in the face of logic and math. A galaxy swirling through the void. A planet hurtling through space. A microcosm of events that led to you being the cell that divided and multiplied into you. You are here. She is here. He is here. We are here. Isn’t that insane? Trillions of billions of millions of odds against one and each person you see is that one coming to the forefront and existing. That’s absurd! Laugh at this ridiculous set of circumstances we have! We. All. Matter. Laughter keeps us sane. If we don’t laugh, if we aren’t silly, we’ll see just how dark the humorless make the world. And it won’t be long until you, you miracle of mathematic statistics, become humorless too- become full of hate and disdain and jealousy. So laugh. Please find some way, somewhere to laugh. It’s the breath of humanity, the absurdity of the universe coming through. The darkness of others actions will win if we let it take our laughter. And we can’t let that happen. Ever.
