It’s not weird to me that someone came up with the idea of stuffing bread up a turkey’s cloaca before cooking it. Okay, well it is. But what’s WEIRDER is that the trend CAUGHT ON. People saw that happen, saw the person eating it, TRIED IT THEMSELVES, and said ‘You know what? This should happen every year!’ Without going over in their heads “Uh, did that guy just stuff bread up a bird’s butt and eat it?”
I really want to do a series in N&P called “And The Rest is History” talking about how weird stuff from the past came to be, or SHOULD HAVE come to be, if the world had a sense of humor.
I raised turkeys growing up, sadly your close up is of their tail, haha. They’re butts are actually lower towards the chest area, or basically down where you have the white feathers, but not within the chest, just below it. The flap of light gray feathers you see on the tail that looks like it has a butt hidden is just where the feathers ruffle when they’re not perked up.
And just as an extra fact. Barbed wire isn’t usually used with keeping in turkeys. Since turkeys are dumb they walk into everything and don’t understand why it hurts, and most often times they can fly over anything that isn’t higher than 6 feet. If barbed ware was used, it would need to be in much closer strands.
I was always curious how that all got started.
Ninja & Pirate. Both funny and informative! ;)
Ha Ha!!! Brilliant idea
