Okay so Daredevil has hit Netflix and has been renewed for a second season. Daredevil has long been one of my favorite heroes and I am beyond excited to see this series that truly does justice to the character. The best part is its accessability. My buddy Alex, for example, pretty much hates all superhero films- specifically the Marvel cinematic universe (save Guardians because really who can hate that). Daredevil, as of now, shares little to no connection to any of the MCU, save several fleeting verbal references and yet still crams in enough content that keeps comic geeks like me excited. Heck, you can see freakin’ Stilt Man’s costume in the background of one shot. It gains the majority of its tone from the Frank Miller/Klaus Janson run, while throwing a bit of the phenomenal Bendis/Maleev series in too. All in all, my main issues with it come mostly from cinematographic complains (I really can’t wait for needless shaky cam to die a horrible and painful death) to a few minor character nitpicks (Charlie Cox can be rather dry at times and I had trouble believing Karen Page). The real star comes from Vincent D’Onofrio and his absolutely stellar performance as Fisk. It is how I always pictured the Kingpin and it is spot on. The series is short-lived but entrancing and not your normal MCU romp, as in there are times where the violence makes ME wince. Parents, this is not for your kids. Daredevil all in all is a stellar achievement and I am ridiculously happy with it. Bring me Cage, Jones, Fist, and Defenders, Netflix! My body is ready…

See you Saturday for what has proved to be one of the most artistically challenging N&P’s to date! Not to mention, the story begins to really start!
