Interesting side point, “macaroni” actually refers to a style of fashion popular around the late 1700’s. The song “Yankee Doodle” is actually poking fun at the proverbial ‘dandy’. “Macaroni” had to do with ornate fashion, and displaying one’s wealth or status through their attire. So Yankee Doodle came to town, riding on his pony. Note, he rode to town on a pony- not a full fledged horse or stallion. Then he stuck a feather in his hat, a single feather, and called it ‘macaroni’. What an idiot, right? So amusingly enough, Yankee Doodle, a song always tied into colonial pride and patriotism, is actually a jab at how the yankee colonists were peasants with delusions of grandeur. Just a fun little tidbit there. Also, elbow noodles with feathers is considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, jerks. And is delicious.
Acctually Maccaroni was the name of a london based mens club who members were considered THE trend setters of mens fashion in the 1700’s (so calling somthing Maccaroni was saying it was in fashion) add to that that calling some one a yankee was like calling someone a redneck today and the song makes more sense it was originally a song making fun of americans but we embrased it
